Ye olde grammatical error

Reported by Paul Willis | July 26th, 2010 @ 11:24 AM

This must qualify for the most pedantic, nerdy, irrelevant 'bug' ever but here goes...

When I launch 20couch on my iPad I always see a message on the login screen that says:

"Thou shall not pass until thou enters thou username and passcode!"

Putting aside how annoying this 'joke' is after you've seen it a million times the word 'thou' means 'you' so the message is saying:

"You shall not pass until you enters you username and passcode!"

I think it should be:

"Thou shalt not pass until thou enter thine username and passcode!"

I'm more concerned with why you have to login so much. I can't remember the last time I've seen the login screen. Do you explicitly logout or not use the remember me option?

I never log out and I have ticked the 'Remember' box more times than I can remember (although I usually don't bother anymore). My username/password just time out after some unknown period.

I have bookmarks on both my iPad (iOS 3.2.1) and iPhone 4 (iOS 4.0.1). I hit that bookmark but I am immediately redirected to the login page with ye olde message. My username/password are auto filled so I just have to click the login button.

At this point the two devices differ slightly...

On the iPad I then see the standard multi-frame home page display. At this point I usually hold my finger on the account name/link I want to view and 'Open in a new page', this loads up http://example.com/items/index/provider_id:1 and I see the tweets listed (my preferred view).

On the iPhone after logging in I am taken to the tasks/accounts/tags list where I select the account I wish to view.

On both devices if I go back 15 minutes later I'm still logged in.

At some unknown time later if I go back I have to go through the login routine again. Certainly ever morning I have to do this.

I don't have this issue on either of the two Macs I use.

This may be a server setting. Where are you hosting? If possible check the php.ini file and see what the setting for "session.gc_maxlifetime" is.

I'm hosting on 'my own' server (well technically my space on the company's server).

The php.ini"session.gc_maxlifetime" setting is on the default 1440

But if it is a server setting wouldn't I see the same behaviour on my Mac? It would seem to me be to be a Mobile Safari issue

For some reason 20Couch hasn't kept me logged in on any of the browsers that I've used to log in with it on my domain. I've been meaning to look in to it, but it's not a big enough bother to me to have to type in my username/pass combo in comparison to tracking down a bug. :)
